Sharing personal information brings people closer together. But how do you know when you’ve gone too far—or when someone else has ulterior motives?

The fact of having 4 older siblings who teased, tormented, bullied, coaxed, and manipulated the at least 5 years younger me had a serious effect on me. I have a very accurate bullshit meter. The only time I get fooled is when I decide to ignore my instincts.
I learned to act like they didn't bother me because if I showed I cared about something, they took it, or ate it, or broke it.
To this day they think I'm so tough!
I wonder if this effect on younger siblings was investigated?
