I offer as a measure of the cultural changes we've had in the U.S. since the 60's the shows Star Trek TOS and Star Trek Discovery. There has been a welcome increase in diversity of race and gender, and an unwelcome increase in dialogue that consists of trash talking and lack of professionalism. There also seems to be a replacement of the idea of science as understanding that is earned through hard work and discipline, with the idea of science being a kind of magic trick, an example of the power of positive (or wishful) thinking.
