I know sleep is extremely important to our health as humans and that sleep deprivation has some pretty devastating effects due to my own experience with it... but I had only slightly suspected it had a hand in dementia and Alzheimer's. This does not surprise me but knowing the details, the mechanism for cleaning plaques and how they can build up, really puts things together for me. It makes sense and shifts the priority of making sure I get consistent, high quality sleep even higher. I'm going to let my mom know, too next time I speak with her. She worries she'll develop it.
