Hi Mer,
Yes, I am a child/daughter advocate because mothers and fathers effectively create and run the formative years of our lives. Those years are known by psychologists and other researchers to provide the foundation for the important stuff: being loved and attended to, having your emotions validated, learning how to deal with stress, being motivated, and dealing with failure, and more. So you were a single mother with a number of kids and they all give you high marks? Except this one? She is holding you to a standard but you say she hasn't articulated it. Since you've been in contact, that seems unlikely somehow. But please explain. I am neither a psychologist nor a therapist but I am well-informed about these dynamics. And, no, I do not BLAME mothers. Best, Peg Streep
