Among many things, my mother was also a screamer! It didn't take much to set her off.
I vowed to do things differently with my kids, although it was hard to break that urge to yell at my kids (because that's what I modeled). I was able to raise them without the yelling.
I did get therapy to undo the damage that was done with the yelling and screaming, It was difficult, though.
