Ms. kelly, sorry for the delay in response to your question. I guess my first question would be is how? How is it a hinderance? It sounds like our little friend has far more going on than separation anxiety. Ms. Colleen is on the track to integration play. You couldn't pay me to separate from my bear, because of transitional effects, and it's my opinion that is what you are facing with this little man. May I suggest, join in on the fun, use these transitional objects of his to learn who he is. If you do that, instead of separation, I think you may be on the way to discovering this young man's life in ways that will be far more better than your current plan.
Give that a shot. That's what I would do.
