Thanks, Daetan. I've fixed the link. As to your first question, no, I haven't heard or read anything about the issue of men reacting more emotionally to the sight of a woman being injured or killed. It would be difficult to arrange for a controlled study (to say the least), though there was an interesting paper published about the fate of women and children on the Titanic vs the Lusitania -- I wrote about it here:
